Have students write 5 questions about the book they read. The format is similar… In which book…. Answer is the title of the book. Create a jeopardy template using a website such as http://teach.fcps.net/trt10/PowerPoint.htm is one example of a site chock full of ideas and templates.
Each student types in his question and answer under the appropriate category: characters, objects, events, setting, place –use categories of your choice (brainstorm your own) You will need 20 good questions so the group could be 5 students 4 books each for example. Students will have to have read all the books to be fair.
Play the game having students critique their questions as you go along. Too Easy/too vague/fits more than one book etc.

Short description of the lesson: Colorado History timelines. Each student researches a famous Coloradoan and adds their information to a class timeline and an event that is happening in Colorado History during their individuals’ life. Class discusses events happening during the time of these individuals’ lives and how the individuals’ life was influenced by what was happening. A connection will then be made about how events in Colorado are also influenced by US and World events. Short description of the lesson:
Day 1: Read a picture book with students and review story elements. Divide students into small groups, with each group assigned a story element. Each group fills out their assigned element of the graphic organizer and each group shares out as the teacher/librarian records on main graphic organizer.
Day 2: Teacher models finished organizer which includes ideas of images that goes along with each of the elements. Show an example of Photostory you have created on a picture book. Students (individually or in groups) complete their element organizer with bulleted list of images.
Day 3: Students complete a storyboard planning worksheet to map their story nwith images, decide whether to narrate or use text and explore background music options.
Day 4: (Computer lab)
Teacher shows how a new project in Photostory is made and the various steps that they will go through in the process of creating a photostory. Teacher suggests tips and techniques for using image search engines, demonstrates how to locate images and apply them to the Photostory project. Students start working independently, continue the next day and then have students share out their Photostory presentations with their peers.
